WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 21 November 2021
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking be put away fromyou, with all malice.
32 And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as Godin Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:30-32
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. Matters that need attention
a) Three matters were addressed in this passage
b) They must be given due attention
2. Relating to the Holy Spirit
a) We must not grieve the Spirit of God
i) To make Him upset
ii) To make Him angry
b) He is our Seal
i) For the Day of our redemption
ii) He should be treasured!
3. Things that would grieve the Holy Spirit
a) Bitterness
b) Wrath/ anger
c) Clamour, and evil speaking
d) Malice
All of these things must be put away!
4. Things that would be approved by the Spirit of God
a) Kindness
b) Being tender-hearted
c) Forgiveness
The Lord God has forgiven us of so much!
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. Being Filled with the Holy Spirit
a) This is sadly lacking
b) Few seek to be filled with the Spirit
2. Before we can be filled
a) Our sins
i) We need to confess
ii) We need to be cleansed
b) We must deal with our sins thoroughly
3. The Practice of being Spirit-Filled
a) If we are Spirit-filled, there will be fruit Galatians 5:22-23
b) We will be able to relate to each other much better
c) We must seek to be far more conscious of the Spirit of God in our life
